THIS TREE HAS BEEN “UNDER ARREST” FROM LAST 122 YEAR’S

An old banyan tree located in Landi kotal army cantonment area located in Pakistan (present-day) was ‘ arrested ‘ on the orders of a British army officer in 1898.

One hundred twenty two years later, the tree is still under arrest. It is still tied with a chain!

The story behind this is that over a hundred years ago, during the rule of the British Empire, an army officer called James squid saw this old tree and thought that it was marching towards him.

The officer, who was reportedly drunk, felt threatened by it and ordered a sergeant to arrest it. The sergeant followed the officer’s orders and chained the tree as a punishment.
